Leviathan Security Group's management team includes:


Frank Heidt, Chief Executive Officer

Leads Leviathan’s executive management team. As the creator of Leviathan’s innovative business structure, he was responsible for designing Leviathan and bringing together security professionals with diverse backgrounds from premier consultancies, industries and government agencies. 

Mr. Heidt is a recognized expert in the field of information assurance, network security and systems penetration. Prior to forming Leviathan Mr. Heidt was a Managing Security Architect for @stake, heading up their Pacific Northwest practice. His previous experience found him engaged in various computer security related work for the Department of Defense. In his capacity as one of the DOD’s civilian Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO), he was responsible for securing several large networks for the Department of the Navy.

Frank has been a Visiting Lecturer at the United States Army War College, United States Navy War College and the Naval Post Graduate School Monterey, on the subject of defensive information warfare, and military computer systems security. Mr. Heidt was a General Partner and Founding Member of Five by Five LLC, a security partnership that subsequently joined @stake as part of their corporate growth strategy.


Rex Warren, Co-Founder, Chief Financial Officer/Chief People Officer

Rex is a founding member of Leviathan Security Group with over 15 years experience with IT security. Rex started his career working as a civilian for the Department of Navy, where he built, configured and maintained firewalls and intrusion detection systems for global military networks. While with the Navy, Rex also specialized in operating system hardening for systems including Solaris, HPUX, Windows NT, BSD, and Linux.

In 1999, Rex co-founded Pacific Northwest security consulting firm Five by Five, which was subsequently purchased by security start-up @stake in 2000, helping form the nucleus of the company that was acquired by Symantec in 2003. While at @stake, Rex helped build the Seattle security consulting practice, and assisted customers of all sizes on host hardening, secure network design, vulnerability assessments, and penetration assessments. In collaboration with colleagues, Rex has been publicly credited with discovering vulnerabilities in network technologies (including Cisco VCO device) and he has co-authored articles on security in forums including The Linux Journal.


Chad Thunberg, Chief Operating Officer

Chad is Leviathan's Chief Operating Officer, responsible for managing the Professional Services Organization and maintaining Leviathan's reputation for industry leading research and high quality consultative services.

Chad specialized in Information Security for more than a decade before joining Leviathan as a founding member. He came from Washington Mutual where he was responsible for translating regulatory and business requirements into enterprise security solutions. Chad also lead the team responsible for the proactive identification of process and technology vulnerabilities as part of the enterprise secure development lifecycle.

Previously, Chad was a Security Consultant with Guardent, where he was responsible for developing and improving Guardent's security methodologies and managed services platform. In addition, he acted as a mentor and leader for the west coast security practice. He also assisted Fortune 100 customers with innovative solutions for reducing their overall technology risk through the maturation of process and technology.
